About the Research

Research is key to innovation in fulfilling the industrial gap. Embarking on this notion, Arihant School of Pharmacy & Bio-Research Institute, Adalaj had constituted the Research and Development Committee. The responsibility of this committee is to stimulate research interest, review the progress of sanctions and applied grants, contribute to the development of research policy, and communicate to stakeholders the availability of research opportunities.

Role & Responsibilities of the Research and Development Cell (RDC)


  • To develop, monitor and review policies relating to the University’s research activities, including research and research training, internationalization and international reputation, and their management as well as to guide, monitor, review and endorse the activities of the committee.
  • Review, on a triennial basis, submissions for formation and or continuation of University Research Strengths and advice on funding allocations to and the status of, all RDC-funded research groups.
  • To care for a conducive environment for the promotion of Research & Innovation activities in the university.
  • To encourage faculty members to apply for major, Minor Research Projects.
  • To ensure smooth functioning and effective Management of Innovation, Research and Development activities of the university.
  • To promote collaborative research.
  • To strengthen industry-institute interaction by promoting consultancy, testing and need-based research & innovation activities in the university.
  • To identify the potential areas of research in various disciplines and form the faculty into various clusters based on their specialization.
  • To prepare and submit proposals to government agencies for obtaining funded projects.
  • To encourage multi-disciplinary research internally within the university and externally with other organizations.
  • Encourage the staff to attend/ publish papers in various National/ International conferences in their specialized areas.
  • To coordinate the research activities among the various departments and address potential conflicts.
  • Encourage the faculty to attend various research-oriented Faculty development programmes.
  • To encourage the staff to publish their research works in reputed journals that have good impact factors and are indexed in Scopus and Web of Science (WOS).
  • Scrutinize the student’s project proposals and send them to various agencies for financial support and recommend suitable projects.
  • To affirm policies for sponsored research and consultancies.
  • As safeguard the intellectual property of the University and its Faculty.
  • To provide leadership and advice on mechanisms to improve monitoring, benchmarking and reporting of the University’s research performance.
  • To hold one to two events annually to facilitate the exchange and dissemination of information concerning research training issues for the broader research community.
  • To inform and advise the Academic community on research and research training matters as and when they arise.

Significance of research and development committee:


  • The Research and Development Committee may provide strategic leadership for research in the university.
  • The RDC may lead the University to ensure a sustainable research environment and culture
  • The RDC may entrust to encourage the development of interdisciplinary research, in line with the University’s priorities
  • The RDC may encourage the faculty members and departments for International collaboration in research.
  • The RDC may draft and develop policies related to research
  • RDC shall function as an agency to identify, develop and design University level research proposals to submit to higher authorities such as Higher Education Council of Kerala, University Grants Commission etc.
  • RDC shall undertake University level projects of contemporary relevance and importance.
  • RDC shall plan academic programmers such as Teacher-Exchange programmers in collaboration with other institutions of higher education and organize academic activities involving a cluster of institutions.
  • This RDC may be entrusted to organize lectures and workshops on current trends related to research methodology and other topics of interdisciplinary nature.
  • The RDC may ensure that the University meets its targets for research outputs, working closely with other Units of the University such as Planning and Developments, IQAC etc.
  • The RDC may entrusted to worked out long term research plans of the University
  • The RDC may assist the academic departments and faculty members to find out funding sources and personal research planning processes.
